In 2022-23, the Welsh Government allocated extra funds for Mental Health services as part of its well-being objectives under the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.
Statistics published last October show that in 2020-21, there were 7,639 admissions to mental health facilities in Wales, an increase of 173 (2%) from 2019-20.
At EMED, we’re conscious about investing in and providing services to support the communities we operate in. We are very proud to have now opened our new Safe Care operational base in Bridgend to provide safe transport to patients.
With crews, bed watch teams and covert vehicles, our teams in Bridgend covering South Wales are here to support local healthcare providers and their patients with a secure, safe and caring transport service.
Other services being provided from this base include: prison patient transport services, patient transport and secure transport under section 135/136 of the Mental Health Act. Managing the delivery of both live and non-live vaccines is a significant logistics challenge for the team, who must ensure appropriate temperature controls and shelf lives are factored into the delivery. We’re delighted to say the team has managed this task superbly, ensuring the safe arrival of vaccines without any breaches recorded.
The NHS is now in the grip of winter pressures, and we’re proud to support both the NHS and our local communities to help mitigate the effects of flu in our school children.
Keep up the great work team!
