EMED Patient Care is delighted to announce the renewal of our contract to deliver hospital discharge services at Salisbury Hospital, strengthening our long-standing partnership with the hospital and reinforcing our commitment to providing safe, compassionate and patient-focused transport services.
The new contract, which began on 1 February 2025, introduces several key improvements designed to enhance patient flow, increase service visibility, and support sustainability initiatives.
One significant enhancement is the introduction of the Cleric patient transport system, which provides a streamlined approach to journey management. Cleric will allow for real-time booking and monitoring, giving hospital teams greater visibility of patient transport movements while ensuring a smoother, more responsive service. The system replaces the previous manual processes, improving efficiency and making it easier for frontline teams to coordinate patient discharges effectively.
EMED is also introducing our first electric vehicle to the contract, replacing an existing wheelchair-accessible vehicle. This marks an important step in our carbon reduction strategy, helping to lower emissions while maintaining the highest standards of patient care. The vehicle will be supported by dedicated charging facilities at Salisbury Hospital, ensuring a reliable and environmentally friendly transport solution.
To further strengthen coordination, a dedicated Patient Transport Liaison Officer (PTLO) has also been appointed to work closely with Salisbury Hospital teams, overseeing transport operations and supporting safe and efficient discharges.
Natasha Lindsey, EMED’s Regional Senior Operations Manager for the contract, commented:
“We’re incredibly pleased to continue working with Salisbury Hospital, ensuring patients can get home or to the care setting they need in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. The introduction of Cleric, our first electric vehicle, and a dedicated PTLO are important steps forward, improving how we work with hospital teams and providing better visibility of patient journeys. We’ve worked hard to build a strong relationship with the hospital and look forward to continuing to evolve the service together.”
The contract will run for a period of three years and will be delivered by a dedicated team of Ambulance Care Assistants operating from Salisbury Hospital.
