Best start

When you come to work with us, whether as a Ambulance Care Assistant, manager or part of our support team, you’ll receive a comprehensive induction programme covering everything you need to get the best start in your new role.

Training specific for your role

Whatever your role, we pride ourselves in providing the best quality of learning and development to all staff at all levels, including any specialist training you need to ensure you have the specific skills and confidence to carry your role out fully.

If you join us as an Ambulance Care Assistant, you will also receive any specialist training needed for your role.

Best practice

When it comes to training we like to meet and exceed the minimum expected training standards to ensure that we’re delivering best practice.

All of our staff are encouraged to develop their skills in a range of different ways including on-the-job training, shadowing and mentoring or through formal qualifications such as apprenticeships and Institute of Leadership Management (ILM) training.

Supervision and support

You will have regular meetings with your manager who will observe your work, and provide ongoing support and additional training to help you improve.

Coaching and mentoring

We also offer coaching and mentoring to help you with your ongoing development and career aspirations. We are great believers in promoting people within our teams, so, if you have the right values and motivation, you will find there are opportunities for progression, or even the potential to develop yourself within one of our many different services or departments.

Qualified trainers

We use an in-house team and also external training to make sure you get the training needed for your role.

Our team of in-house trainers are all experienced and qualified, and most of them have hands-on experience of providing care and support. Whether you are working in the field, providing professional care to our service users, or based within an office environment, we pride ourselves in providing the best quality of learning and development at all levels.

Personal development programme

You will get the opportunity to create a Personal Development Plan where together with your manager you can identify what training you need for your job, including additional training over time to build on your skills and prepare you for progression or promotion. You will have regular meetings with your manager, one of which will be your annual appraisal during which there is a special focus on your development and how you would like to develop your career.

Developing our own

With a wide range of services across the UK, we have plenty of opportunities for you to grow your career.

If you share our values and our commitment to making a positive difference to people’s lives then we will support you with the training, coaching or mentoring you need to help you achieve your career aspirations whether that is developing your exisiting skills, moving into a different area of work within EMED or progressing into a leadership role. We’re proud that we have a number of staff who been able to progress their careers within EMED and we’re always keen to offer these development opportunities to our staff when we can.
